Summary: A dystopian novel and suspenseful story of love, trust, and survival. Joseph Kavanagh is a new Defender of the Wall, built by an island nation in a time of rising waters, fear, and political division. His one task is to protect his section of the Wall from the desparate Others, who are trapped amid the rising seas outside and attack constantly. Failure will result in death or being put to sea and made an Other himself.
